Exclusive Spy Shots: The 2011 Porsche Cayman & Carrera caught testing in SA

The next generation Porsche Cayman and Carrera S for 2011 has been caught by EasyCarBlog undergoing heat testing in South Africa.
The little city which hosts all of these exotic prototypes is called Upington and it is based in the Kalahari desert. Dean from EasyCarBlog got in touch with these exclusive spy shots and kindly let us feature them on the site.
The new 2011 Cayman is expected to be manufactured under a deal with Austria’s Magna Steyr.
Changes on the 2011 Porsche Cayman should include a wider track, new handling and dynamics, and new powertrains which should feature a flat-six engine with a good fuel economy and good CO2 emissions.
Parked alongside the Cayman, Dean found the Carrera S which has some scarce details. The Carrera S model should have more than 400-hp. Expect better performance and new engines for this model as well.
Along with these images easycarblogs included the Porsche Carrera 4S Cabriolet. The 4S was caught near this exact shopping center.
On the back of the car you will see a sticker which says “Government approved high speed testing vehicle”. This means that the car can travel up to 350km/h on public roads without prosecution. Pretty unfair hey, ’cause what if I want to take a Nano down the road at that speed? …Just kidding. But really.
We’re expecting the 2011 models at the end of 2010.
The Porsche PDK ‘box will be available on all of these models.

I wonder how the performance of the 2011 Cayman would compare to the flagship Carrera. Does anyone know if it has a turbocharged engine?

Porsche has done a good job with the evolution of the Cayman. But beauty can only be skin deep. Underneath the skin of this beauty is what counts the most.

If this being a test mule, Porsche is still working out a few kinks. But knowing them, we won’t be disappointed when they release the final version. Tell me, does it still come with the retractable spoiler?
